Intense: Innovative laser diode solutions

Intense harnesses video measurement as it moves to mass production

27 June 2005 ~ NEXIV to help ensure high-performance of laser modules ~

The precise position of delicate components at the heart of laser modules are now being more accurately measured than ever before by Intense using a newly installed Nikon NEXIV VMR 3020 video measuring system.

Intense is a UK-based global provider of laser module solutions for the digital printing industry.

"This new technology is key as we move to volume manufacture of laser modules for our customers," said Adrian Kendall, Engineering Manager for Intense. "Since many of the key features of the laser that we need to measure are extremely fragile they would not survive the use of contact measurement techniques. We could potentially make the measurements with other precision tools, such as a toolmaker’s microscopes, but it would be very time consuming. Furthermore, we certainly would not be able to carry out the intensive measurements that we currently make on every part."
