Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree/Masters with minimum 4 years practical experience.
Intense, Inc., located in North Brunswick, NJ, designs and produces high performance semiconductor lasers for a variety of “blue chip” domestic and international customers within the Defense, Print and Imaging, and Medical industries.
We are currently seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer with industry experience to join our engineering team.
Mechanical Engineer – Laser Diode Packaging and Process Development
About the Job
- Provide engineering design and development on new and existing semiconductor laser devices and complex packaging solutions.
- Provide engineering design and development for mounting optical lenses with laser subassemblies.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing process on automated assembly equipment such as Palomar Die Bonders, ASM Wire Bonders, and Unitemp Reflow Ovens. This includes mechanical preventative maintenance, program development, and debugging.
- Support production for several diode laser products, including mounting laser arrays, photo diodes, ASICs, and similar micro components.
- Design of custom carriers/heatsinks, mechanical packages and other components related to semiconductor laser packaging.
- Provide training and support for production technicians and operators.
- Must be comfortable working in a clean room environment.
- Must be self-motivated, hands on, drive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Knowledge of the following a plus:
- LabVIEW programming
- Soldering/metallurgy experience
- Experience with laser diodes and characterization
